A Season of Firsts…

Yesterday, 7 April 2020, Singapore began its “circuit breaker” season in the hope of disrupting the spread of the Covid-19 virus among the populace. As an engineering graduate, I understand the idea behind it – when an electrical circuit breaker is tripped, the flow of electricity is halted and power is taken away. So we’re trying to take the “spreading power” of the virus away by separating people. Honestly, I never imagined that I would experience a pandemic in my lifetime. I mean, this sort of thing was the stuff of history books, or so I thought. So that’s a first…

In the body of Christ in Singapore, it is a season of firsts too. For once, churches are not allowed to conduct worship services or even home groups, although this is something we are quite willing to do in light of the situation. For once, we shall not have physical Good Friday or Resurrection Sunday services. For OCF, Sunday would have seen our first water baptism service.. I’ll admit it – I’m kinda disappointed about that last one. But there’s another first which I am excited about… our first sermon-on-video!! It’s a necessary step to continue on our assignment as stewards of God’s Truth during this season. And so, whether or not you are part of the OCF family, I welcome you to check it out and pray the Lord will use it to exhort, edify and/or encourage you. You can click here to watch the video. Be blessed!
