Toward the end of last week, as I prepared to record my video message “package” for Sunday, I was inclined to use a song I had just heard again recently for the first time in years. (You can find the song below)
I sensed the song was going forth as a prophetic invitation to the people of Singapore.
To my fellow Singaporeans,
I sense the Lord saying the words from Jeremiah 29:13-14 to you:
“And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the Lord….”
and also these words from Isaiah 55:6:
“Seek the Lord while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near.”
This is an invitation for you to look for God (the God of the Bible) in this season of time. It is a promise that if you were to do so wholeheartedly, you will find Him.
To those who do not know Jesus as your Saviour and Lord, you may be wondering at the futility of life. Work (or study) so hard, put in the effort, invest the time and money… and all it takes is one microscopic virus to bring it down. Or maybe you have been wondering what life is all about and why you are here. You could even be so desperate and anxious that you’re willing to find anything that will make you feel better! Whoever you are and however you feel, this invitation is for you. The God we read of in the Bible is inviting you to seek Him. How? Find a time and place where you can be quiet and (preferably) by yourself. Then talk to Jesus as though He is sitting next to you. If you prefer, you can even write a letter, text message or email to Him. While you are doing so, just hold on to this fact – that He is real and hears/reads what you say/write. What do I say? You can tell Him how you feel or what you need or maybe you can ask Him questions. While He may be found, He invites you to look for Him. I hope you will accept His invitation.
To the Christians reading this, the Lord is calling to you to seek Him. inviting you to draw near to Him. If you do so with singular focus, then you will find Him. Don’t just seek Him for provision but seek Him also for instructions, wisdom and empowerment. It is common practice to trip a circuit breaker before one makes any repairs or enhancements to the electrical system. Once things are fixed, the breaker is activated again. In this season of collective pause, God is “repairing” His people and setting things in place for whatever He wants to do next. Once the “repairs” or realignments are done, He will activate the breaker again and the power will start to flow. (Note. This may or may not coincide with the Government’s schedule..) If we desire to move with God, then we must know what He is doing. In order to know what He is doing, we must seek Him! So seek Him!!
Besides an invitation and a promise, these verses carry a warning too – there will be a time when we will no longer be able to seek the Lord. But don’t wait for that time to come because we don’t know when it will be. While you still can, look to God; Call out to Him for help; Listen to Him for instruction. Don’t waste the opportunity!
